Elizabeth J. Altman is currently a doctoral student in management at the Harvard Business School. Prior to this role, Altman was vice president of business development in Motorola's Mobile Devices business.

Cornell Service

In 2008, Elizabeth Altman was elected by the alumni to serve on the Cornell University Board of Trustees. As a member of the board, she co-chairs the Committee on Alumni Affairs and serves on the Audit Committee; Committee on Academic Affairs; Committee on Development; Task Force on Accreditation; and the Task Force on Student, Faculty, and Staff Diversity. She is also a member of the Cornell University Council, the College of Engineering Advisory Council, and the President's Council of Cornell Women.

Professional Career

During Altman's 18-year career at Motorola, she served in various executive and leadership positions, including roles in strategy, product development engineering, industrial design, manufacturing, and marketing. Altman's main areas of expertise include business and innovation strategy, business development, M&A, equity investing, developing and managing strategic alliances, and technology licensing. Altman earned dual graduate degrees in mechanical engineering and management as a fellow in MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing Program. She is co-author of the book The Innovator's Guide to Growth (Harvard Business Press, 2008).
