Description:
The library has a fascinating and eclectic
collection of more than 240,000 maps
and 3,200 books and atlases, which has
supported research and teaching projects
on campus for 60 years. Olin Library is
also a federal depository library for
government maps and digital spatial
data. The collection includes detailed
international topographic maps,
reproductions of rare and historic maps,
aerial photographs, globes, and a
growing collection of GIS data. On
Saturday at 3 p.m., the map librarian
will show and discuss a wide variety of
cartographic material from the
collection, ranging from rare Asian maps
to participatory maps produced by the
Pemon people of Venezuela.
