Description:
Mann Library will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth by focusing on his impact on the study of life on earth. This multimedia program explores Darwin's observations of human expression and celebrates our hominid past with photographic views of sculptures by paleoartist John Gurche and in a talk by Warren Allmon, director of Ithaca's Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institution and Cornell professor of paleontology, that reveals what rocks have to tell us about nature's evolving complexity through the ages. Exhibit, Mann lobby: "Written on Our Faces: Darwin's The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, May 15 through September 15. Gallery exhibit, 2nd floor: "Sculpting Our Hominid Past: Photographic Views of Works by PRI Artist-in-Residence John Gurche," May 15 to July 31. Book talk: Chats in the Stacks with Warren Allmon.
