Youth Program June 6th - 7th
For many alumni, Reunion is a family event. Cornell offers the Youth Program for children ages 6-15 on Friday and Saturday of the Reunion weekend. Children ages 12 weeks to 10 years, can enroll in the Ithaca Community Childcare Center's program. For more information, see the Ithaca Community Childcare Center flyer, or call them directly at (607) 257-0200.
The Youth Program provides adult supervision, lunch, dinner, academic programs, and recreational activities for children 6 to 15 years old. Activities are designed to be age appropriate, with a separate schedule for each age group. Inside this brochure is a sample schedule.
Equipped with a gymnasium, pool, bowling lanes, lounge, and playing fields, Helen Newman Hall serves as the Youth Program headquarters. Throughout the day, children have opportunities to see and experience other parts of the Cornell campus.
The cost of the 2008 Youth Program is $65 per full-day child per day, and $45 per half-day per child. Pre-registration is required, parents may register children for one or two days, and either full days or half days. Requests for refunds must be made directly to Alumni House by 5/23/08. Registration forms must be postmarked no later than 5/23/08.
For more information call the Alumni Affairs office at (607) 255-7085.
Program policies
To ensure that our program is enjoyable and safe for all participants, parents and their children must adhere to these policies:
- Children must be at least 6 years old, or have completed kindergarten, to register in the Youth Program.
- Children registered for a full day must check in at Helen Newman Hall accompanied by a parent between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. on the day(s) for which they pre-registered. People who arrive after 8:45 a.m. may find that their child's assigned group has left for their morning activities. Parents will then be responsible for delivering their child to his/her assigned counselor. Children registered for a half day, accompanied by a parent, must check in at Helen Newman Hall between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. on the day(s) for which they pre-registered.
- Children (regardless of age) are not allowed to leave their assigned groups on their own. Parents choosing to remove a child from his/ her group must do so in person. To rejoin their group later on in the day, children must be accompanied by their parent. Parents must make arrangements with the Youth Program coordinator during morning check-in to ensure safe and smooth transfers.
- Parents are responsible for picking up their children before the designated ending time at Helen Newman. The Youth Program does not make arrangements for after-program care.
