How Members Are Selected

Membership on PCCW is by invitation only, with a special emphasis on attracting  alumnae not previously involved in Cornell alumni organizations.

  • The process begins with a current PCCW or Cornell staff member nominating a prospective member. The PCCW Membership Committee reviews all nominations, which are then approved by the PCCW Steering Committee.
  • Next,  the nominees are presented to Cornell’s president, who approves the candidates and extends an invitation to become a member.

To nominate someone for PCCW:

  • Download a nomination form
  • The instructions and return address are included in the form
  • The deadline for 2012 nominees is October 22, 2011

Criteria

Prospective candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Cornell alumna
  • Leader in one's field, career, or vocational activities (other than activities related to Cornell) with accomplishments at a high level of recognized success
  • Expressed interest in and concern for Cornell, its constituents, and its public image
  • Demonstrated commitment to strengthening the experience of women affiliated with Cornell, whether students, staff, faculty, alumnae, or friends
  • Willingness to become an active volunteer, beginning with responsibilities as a PCCW member
  • Breadth of diversity afforded PCCW as an alumnae organization

Consideration will be given to achieving a diverse membership and new member composition. We aim to have approximately 70% of our members with limited or no prior experience in other alumni organizations.
