The Cornell Club of Hawai'i recently sponsored another tremendously
successful International Spirit of Zinck's night on Thursday, October
16, 2003. The event was held at Gordon Biersch at the Aloha Tower
Marketplace and started at 5:30pm.
The Cornell Club of Hawaii joined over 80 cities around the world
in an annual celebration in honor of legendary Ithacan Theodore
Zinck. Mr. Zinck was a saloonkeeper and his pub, the Hotel Brunswick,
was a popular gathering place for Cornellians in the 1890s.
After his death in 1903, several bars using his name continued to
provide a haven for students. When the last "Zinck's"
closed in the mid-'60s, celebrating the "Spirit of Zinck's"
became a favorite Thursday night Collegetown tradition of undergraduates.
