President's Message

GREETINGS!

Welcome to the 2007-2008 membership year and the new season of Cornell activities in Fairfield County.

Dear Fairfield County Cornellian:

Elizbieta MrozHere in Fairfield County, we have a Cornell Club run exclusively by volunteers. Our objective is to provide an opportunity to meet and connect with fellow Cornellians, learn something new, give back to others, and stay in touch with our alma mater. We are so enthusiastic about this mission statement that even a Cornell parent joined our Board as an officer and has been with us for over seven years.

If you wish to get more involved please let me know, come to our events and share ideas of how you would like to contribute. Become a member of our Club and you will have the opportunity to participate in numerous networking opportunities while attending an interesting variety of intellectual, social, and community-oriented events. Additionally, your contributions to the Club provide scholarship funds for deserving Cornell students. You will also pay the member-price for the events and get advance notifications and priority when purchasing tickets to our most popular activities.

Club dues, which are kept at a reasonable level, sponsor a variety of activities and mailing costs. They subsidize the trip of the faculty speaker in addition to covering rental fees for facilities we use for our events.

In August we had another successful Freshman Send-off party welcoming the newest members of the Cornell community and providing them with an opportunity to talk to our board members about their experiences and expectations relating to life at Cornell University. The ones who return to Fairfield County after their studies can get together for our monthly happy hours and other outings sponsored by the Young Alumni Chairs within our Club. I hope you will keep in touch and join the Cornell Club of Fairfield County.

If you wish to be added to our electronic mailing list I will be delighted to do so. Do not hesitate to contact me with questions or feedback.  Please email me; I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Mroz MPS '98
