A Message from the
Cornell Club of Colorado

Fall 2007

Hello Colorado Cornellians,

Once again, autumn descends upon Colorado. The mountain leaves are beginning to change, the night air is cooler, football season is underway and we’re ready to kick off a new year of exciting alumni activities for Cornellians in Colorado.

I am now beginning my fourth year as president of this organization, and I am proud of several things that have been accomplished during my tenure. First of all, we have greatly expanded the breadth of activities that we offer. To a large extent, this has been made possible by those of you who have come forward with ideas for new events. Last year, we had a behind-the-scenes tour of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, a winery tour, and just a few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to attend a discounted performance at the Newman Center at the University of Denver. Each of these activities was made possible by alumni like you who reached out to me with your ideas for events, so if you or someone you know is affiliated with an organization that could help us deliver a unique alumni event, please let me know.

Another item that I am proud of is a substantial increase in our dues-paying members. Granted, I have encouraged this by offering attendance priority and discounted pricing to dues-payers for several of our events. While these may be the most tangible benefits you will realize from your dues payment, consider that your dues also support a scholarship that enables Colorado students to attend Cornell. We presently support a scholarship that supports outstanding Cornellians from Colorado, such as this year's recipient, Spencer Hansen '08, who plays on Cornell's football team and plans to pursue a career as a physician. While your Cornell Club of Colorado dues are a relative pittance, they add up to have a substantial impact on the future of promising young students from our state.

Many of you are surprised to learn that there are over 3,000 Cornell alumni in Colorado. This is a wonderful network to be a part of and I hope that you will attend some of our events over the next year. A few of our events are detailed on the next page, but I strongly encourage you to sign up for our e-mail list, through which I promote many additional events that come up throughout the year. I look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming events!

Peter Quinn '97
