2007

August 2007 CAAAN Send-off Party -- The Class of 2011 will soon head east to begin their studies and adventures on the hill in Ithaca, NY. Those first few days can be scary and it's nice to have met friends from home before you leave. Let's send them off to the beautiful Cornell campus with a bang! We'll keep it our little secret about the Ithaca winters. Contact our CAAAN chair, Jennifer O'Brien '95 for more details.
April 27-29, 2007 13th Annual Dude Ranch Weekend -- Imagine some of the best hikes you've taken, and then imagine what they would be like on a wonderful horse. Now imagine trotting and cantering along trails through the forest and it gets even better. In the words of owner Bob Foster, Lost Valley Ranch is a place to "slow your pace, clear your mind, quiet your heart, and expand your vision." Come out to the ranch and re-charge your mind and spirit. Lost Valley is not just about great riding for all abilities, from novices to experts. The ranch is also a beautiful place to simply hike via human power, plus it offers great fly-fishing, tennis, volleyball, swimming, and trap shooting. We'll even partake in a good old fashioned boot-stompin' Saturday night square dance. Please see the enclosed flyer and contact Rich Boyan, MBA '91 for information. Don't delay! This trip is very popular and sells out fast!
April 2007 CAAAN Prospective Student Event -- The admissions process is complete. Now, prospective students must make a very big decision... accept the offer to attend Cornell University, the best school in the world, or accept an offer from some other school. Come share your memories, stories and advice with these young prospective students and guide them to making the right decision. Contact our CAAAN chair, Jennifer O'Brien '95 for more details
April 2007 "Spacin' at the Basin" -- Spacin' returns for another year as we gather at Arapahoe Basin to spend a day on the beach.  Bring the goggles and the sunscreen because the weather can change instantaneously, but the snow conditions are sure to be great. If you don't ski, that's okay.  There will be plenty of food, fun and good times.  We will be tailgating in our usual prime spot directly in front of the ski lifts.  The grill starts up around 9:00 a.m., but stop by anytime throughout the day for treats and festivities.  Contact Paul Leo '81 for more details.
March 6, 2007 Cornell Speaker Event -- Each spring, a prestigious Cornell professor comes to visit our great state of Colorado to enlighten and entertain us with thought provoking information. This year will feature Professor Joseph Laquatra '74, MS '82, PhD '84, The Hazel E. Reed Human Ecology Extension Chair in Family Policy in the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. Professor Laquatra's topic will be What You Don't Know About Your House Can Kill You. See enclosed flyer and directions.  This will be an event not to be missed! Contact Peter Quinn '97 for more details.
January 14, 2007 Wildlife Sanctuary Visit -- Join us for a captivating and educational close-up look at the work to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned and abused wolves and wolf-dog hybrids. Event limited to 8 people. Fees apply and orientation training is required to interact with the animals. Contact Rich Boyan, MBA ’91.
January 6, 2007 Cornell Cares Day -- This is a new event that the University is hoping will become an annual tradition a la Zinck's Night. The idea is that each Cornell alumni chapter around the world will choose a volunteer activity to engage in on this day. Another aspect of this event is to involve current students who are home during winter break. We have yet to determine what our activity will be, so suggestions are certainly welcome! Please contact Jessica Hall '01 with any questions or suggestions.
