| November 14, 1998 | Decatur Place Community Service Affair -- Joint Cornell Club/ Cornell Hotel Society event. Decatur Place, a Mercy House Project, 1155 Decatur Street. We are very excited about helping to make the holidays a little nicer for some of Denver's single parents and their children. This joint function with our friends from the Cornell hotel Society provides a way to give back to the community and share an exceptional early Thanksgiving dinner with some special people. The Hotelies will provide all the food and cooking. We'll pitch in some labor to serve the food and some smiles and conversation to brighten the day. Contact Charles Wu '90 at (303)825-0873 or Rich Boyan MBA '91 at 303-415-9268 for more information.
RECAP: Initiated by the Cornell Hotel Society, Decatur Place Thanksgiving Dinner brought many smiles and good company to a couple of hundred single-parent families in Denver. Paul LoNigro of the Cornell Hotel Society brought his chapter's alumns together with members from the Cornell Club of Colorado to help provide some good home cooking and a festive, relaxed atmosphere for hard-working, and sometimes hard-luck members in our community. In all about 25 volunteers helped prepare, cook, and serve a delicious turkey and ham dinner with all the classic sides, and of course, apple pie. After the event, the Cornell volunteers regrouped to share the same Thanksgiving meal and their own good comapny together. Decatur Place presented another excellent opportunity for the Cornell Club and Hotel Society to work together and continue strengthening their Cornell ties. |

RECAP: As we expected, the Colorado Symphony played brilliantly. Hollywood came alive in Boettcher Hall with the promised renditions of Ben-Hur, Spellbound, and others. Prior to the concert, Cornellians gathered at Palomino's for a light dinner or cocktail and then walked over to the Performing Arts Center. |

RECAP: Over 40 spirited Cornellians and friends toasted Theodore Zinck's with alumns from around the world. John Ziegler's Jackson's Hole in LoDo afforded us plenty of space and good brew which helped alumns, familiar and new, meet and find out what's happening in Colorado with the Cornell Club and the Cornell Hotel Society. Zinck's Night represented the first in what we expect to be many joint Cornell Club/Hotel Society events. Die-hard happy hour fans continue to toast good times at our monthly happy hours. Our next happy hour is scheduled right after Tax Day, Friday April 16th, at the Washington Park Grill on South Gaylord Street. Contact Cheryl Hornbaker '87 at 303-733-8371 for more information. Hope to see you there! |
