- LOBSTER BAKE
- September 28, 2002
- This popular event is being generously
hosted by Marty and Joan Steiner and coordinated by Cornell super-alum
Prentice Smith. Reservations are required for this event and
there is a charge of $25 per person for the lobster meal. We
are also offering a bratwurst meal as an alternative. The charge
for the bratwurst meal is $5 per person. This feast actually
includes a large lobster or bratwurst, corn of the cob, beer,
wine, and soft drinks along with pot luck items and as close
to a beach-side experience as our Prospect site can muster. Bring
the whole family. Print out the registration
form and make your reservation now.

- ZINCK'S NIGHT
- October 17, 2002 - 6:00 p.m.
- Will Hancock's Judge Roy Beans
Restaurant on Bardstown Road has been the usual site for this
event. But this yar we will meet at Will's new restaruant, Brownings
- located at Louisville Slugger Field (map).
There is plenty of parking, freshly brewed beer, and many delicious
menu options. Relive the tradition and fun of Zinck's, of Ithaca
fame, as you meet a spectrum of Cornellians from all age groups.

- RECEPTION FOR
PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS - December 2002 (Definite date TBA)
- There is no set date for the reception
but please inform anyone you know who may be considering Cornell
as a college choice for 2003 or beyond. This afternoon event,
to be hosted by the Culters, is another great mixer especially
for current students who provide the very latest and best perspective
of the activities on-the-hill.

- CORNELL FACULTY
LECTURE/SPRING MEETING - April 3, 2003
- Always a popular dinner meeting,
this is a great chance to hear a Cornell Professor give his/her
best lecture at prices far under current tuition bills (at $30,000
for 2 15-hour semesters of 14 weeks each, we calculate a charge
of $71.43 per hour).
-
- Our 2003 speaker will be Ms. Elaine
D. Engst. Ms. Engst received a B.A. in History from William Smith
College in 1968, and an M.A. from Cornell University in 1972,
where she held a President White Fellowship. She came to the
Cornell Library in 1979, and has served as Assistant Director
of the New York Historical Resources Center, as Technical Services
Archivist in the Department of Manuscripts and University Archives,
and as Curator of Manuscripts, in the Division of Rare and Manuscript
Collections. In 1995 she was named University Archivist, and
in 1999 she became Director of the Division.
-
- Elaine has served as project director
for an archival electronic records research project sponsored
by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
She coordinated the Cornell component of a U.S. Department of
Education Title II-C-funded project to add archival records to
library catalogs, and managed the New York Historical Resources
Center's Historical Documents Inventory project.
-
- For her work on the New York State
Historical Documents Inventory, Elaine was awarded the Society
of American Archivist's (SAA) C.W.F. Coker Prize for outstanding
finding aids in 1991. She has been active in SAA, serving as
chair of the Description Section and the RLIN Users' Roundtable.
In 1996, she was named a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists
for her many accomplishments.
-
- Additional events
will be planned as time, interest, and opportunities permit.
Thank you for your participation. We hope to see you at the next
Cornell event where you may learn about the latest exciting progress
at one great Ivy League Alma Mater.
