Oct. 6, 2007    Community Service Project: Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup

 

For ten years Cornell alumni have kept a two mile stretch of I-81 free of litter through our famous Cornell Refuse Analysis Project (CRAP).  Free CAACNY t-shirt to all newcomers.  Join fellow volunteers for a meal, as well!  On Saturdays, breakfast at Firekeeper’s Diner before clean-up.  On Mondays, dinner at Danzer’s Restaurant after clean-up.

 

This event re-occurs on Saturday, April 19, Monday, June 16, and Monday, August 18, 2008.

 

Time:  October 6 & April 19:  9:00 A.M. (8:00 A.M., optional breakfast)

           June 16 & August 18:  6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. (optional dinner to follow)

Oct. 18, 2007  International Spirit of Zinck's Night!

Join thousands of Cornellians in celebrating the longstanding tradition of Zinck's Night.  Happy hour will include free appetizers, cash bar, and door prizes!

Oct. 25, 2007  Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) Kick-Off Dinner.

 

CAAAN is comprised of over 6700 Cornellians worldwide who are the frontline of contact for prospective Cornellians.  CAAAN members talk one-on-on with Cornell applicants during the application process.  The Central New York group meets with over 200 applicants from Onondaga and Madison counties each year.   New CAAAN volunteers are always needed.  To volunteer, go to http://caaan.admissions.cornell.edu.

 

All current and prospective CAAAN members are invited to attend the kick-off dinner.  Important changes to this year’s application process will be reviewed, so attendance is particularly important for all volunteers.

Jan. 10, 2008  Reception for Cornell Applicants.

 

Applicants to Cornell and their parents will hear from a panel of enthusiastic current students about the realities of the Cornell experience. Alumni are invited to attend to offer their insights to applicants and their families. Light refreshments. Co-sponsored by the Cornell Women's Club.

Jan. 25, 2008  The 10th Annual "Far Above Cayuga’s Wineries" Benefit Wine Tasting and Silent Auction.

 

This favorite event features over 70 wines from over 16 Finger Lakes Wineries operated by Cornellians.  Proceeds from this event will support our 4th CAACNY Scholarship endowment at Cornell -the new Bob Bitz CAACNY Scholarship.  Silent auction will include Cornell memorabilia as well as wines and gift certificates from both Ithaca and Syracuse area restaurants, hotels, and B&Bs.  Tickets are $35 for CAACNY members and $45 for others.  Price includes a souvenir wine glass & Plainville Turkey carving station! CAACNY MEMBERS SAVE $10!
