Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN)

The Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN), consists of over 7,000 volunteers organized into about 300 committees in the United States and many other countries. It assists the Cornell admissions community in meeting this primary goal of identifying and attracting applicants whose academic performance and abilities indicate a strong chance for success; whose interests represent the breadth of academic programs at Cornell; whose personal qualities and achievement in non-academic areas could maintain or improve the quality of life at Cornell; and who come from a wide spectrum of geographic areas, socio-economic backgrounds, and racial/ethnic groups.

CAAAN members are involved in a variety of activities designed to meet this goal:

  • Encouraging academically qualified and interesting students to consider Cornell as a place to continue their education.
  • Developing and maintaining contacts at local secondary schools, especially with guidance counselors or college advisors, and with community agencies that work with underrepresented minority students.
  • Personalizing the admissions process through contacts with candidates for admission, answering questions, and providing a positive perspective on the University.
  • Providing information about applicants to the admission selection committees.
  • Encouraging students accepted for admission to attend the University.

For more information check out the CAAAN website.

If you are interested in becoming a member of Atlanta's CAAAN committee, you must first register with Cornell at: http://caaan.admissions.cornell.edu/newmember.htm.
