A - Reunion Celebration in Ithaca

The Class of '52 set a new record for attendance at a 50th reunion:
345 classmates and 547 total attendees - it seems like all had a good time.

Evaluation forms have been received with many positive comments and a number of suggestions that will be incorporated in the planning for our 55th reunion in 2007. Thanks to all who took the time to give us some feedback.

We would like to recognize the Reunion Planning Committee that helped in the two years leading up to June 2002 in shaping the events for reunion events:

Suzy Blanchard

Phebe Vandervort Goldstein

Rik Clark

Joy Rees Hoffman

Jane Kiely Davis

Jan Hofmann McCulloch

Tom Foulkes

Bibby Veerman

Joan Boffa Gaul

Jack Veerman

Also kudos to the dozens of other classmates who assisted us in Ithaca at reunion time in performing a myriad of tasks that all added up to a smooth reunion celebration for everyone.

B - Fund Raising

Equally important were the fund raising efforts which accompanied reunion. Here too, the class of '52 set several records:

  • 57% of the class members participated in making a gift to Cornell - a new all-time university record!
  • 90 members of the class are Cayuga Society members who have remembered Cornell as part of their estate plans - also a university record!
  • 92 members of the class are Tower Club members - an all-time best for the class
  • Total dollars given to Cornell as part of our reunion effort were $14,711,500 a wonderful tribute to the importance that Cornell has had in our lives

We would like to recognize the Reunion Fund Raising Committee Chairs that led this important effort for our 50th reunion:

Eli Manchester - General Reunion Fund Raising Chairman
Carol Winter Mund - Major Gifts and Planned Giving Co-Chair
Don Follett - Major Gifts and Planned Giving Co-Chair
Fred Eydt - Athletics Campaign Chairman

Also thanks to the many other class members who assisted them during the year in contacting other classmates to encourage consideration of a gift in celebration of our 50th Cornell reunion.

Several classmates have asked about a list of attendees. It is the last page. If you would like to get in touch with new or old friends - we suggest you use the class directory which was distributed to all classmates in March 2002.

A selection of reunion photos are posted on the next few pages - thanks to Paul Herman and Jack Veerman for having their digital cameras at the ready during reunion!
