CORNELL NEWS

Meet the new President

Dear Cornell University Community,

Thank you for welcoming us so warmly to the Cornell campus and family. Saturday, January 21, 2006 was an unforgettable experience. It is hard to express how much it meant to meet with students, staff and faculty, alumni and friends of the University; to become acquainted with the academic and administrative leaders as well as the members of the Board of Trustees with whom we will be working closely; and, to have a chance to engage, from the start, with the civic leaders from Ithaca and the surrounding community, including the presidents of Ithaca College and Tompkins County/Cortland Community College.

Soon we will be a part of the communities in Ithaca and New York City, Doha and Arecibo, Singapore and Rome, Beijing and Paris, Albany and Appledore Island, Washington, D.C. and everywhere else the proud name of Cornell University is evident. We look forward to our faculty activities, for Robin in the College of Veterinary Medicine, for David in the College of Engineering, and for both of us at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Our longstanding colleagues and new friends have made us feel already a part of Cornell and we thank so many of you for your kind wishes.

Until we meet on campus, we send you our best wishes and gratitude for making us a part of your lives.

Warm regards,

David Skorton and Robin Davisson
