[ WEST CAMPUS Carl L. Becker House ]

Becker House opened in August 2005. It honors the memory of Carl L. Becker, a beloved and inspirational professor of history at Cornell from 1917-1941 who characterized the Cornell character as combining freedom and responsibility.
Carl Becker
served as university historian from 1941 until his death in 1945.
"Becker House offers opportunities to get to know faculty in small settings. Meeting Professor Salvatore and other fellows outside of the classroom is an excellent aspect of living in Becker House."
—Alex Kerhulas '08
Professor Cindy Hazan is the first Carl Becker House Professor and Dean. She leads the house community and provides intellectual and social direction for the house. Hazan resides in the house, and works closely with the assistant dean, Amanda Carreiro, and the student-run House Council.
