[ WEST CAMPUS Alice H. Cook House ]

"The undergraduate-graduate connections at Cook House humanize the educational process. Students get to know us informally and it increases their comfort level with TA's in general. Cook House is a great place to come home to."
—Lindsay Batory, PhD student and Graduate Resident Fellow
Alice H. Cook House opened in August 2004. The Cornell Sun reports, “You don't have to look at too many campus billboards to find out that Cook House is host to some of the most diverse and interesting events and forums on campus.”
Professor Ross Brann is the first Alice Cook House Professor and Dean. He leads the house community and provides intellectual and social direction for the house. Brann resides in the house with his family, and he works closely with the assistant dean, Jean Reese, and the student-run House Council.
The house is named for the late Alice H. Cook, a professor at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She was one of the first scholars to address working women’s issues, such as equal pay, comparable worth, maternity leave, and public policy.
