2008 Senior Class Campaign - Class Officer Position Descriptions

The Campaign is designed to build class unity and raise awareness of philanthropy and the greater alumni network. Class leaders will continue to be called upon through their 5th year reunion to help their class remain connected and informed.

Co-President - Responsible for overseeing the efforts of the classofficers, bringing together their potential as a team, setting the tone andexpectations of the group, recruiting a large network of volunteers to supportthe class' efforts, and advancing the success of the campaign.

Vice Presidents- Responsible for the overall fundraising efforts of the campaign, including volunteer recruitment, phonathons, direct mail, and personal solicitation. Your skills will be critical in getting classmates to understand the importance of the campaign,bringing a large network of volunteers on board, and helping the campaign meet all of its goals. There are 3 different positions:

  • GivingSocieties- Your primary objectives are to create a small committee to identify potential giving society donors and personally ask seniors to support the campaign at a giving society level.
  • Athletics- You are responsible for planning and promoting the Athletics Challenge by recruiting senior leaders who represent the various Athletic teams on campus and involving them in the class' fundraising efforts, particularly in the area of recruiting volunteer groups to host phonathons and making personal contacts.
  • Greek Liaison- You are responsible for planning and promoting the Greek Challenge by recruiting campus leaders who represent Pan-hel, IFC, and MGLC on campus and involving them in the class' fundraising efforts, particularly in the area of recruiting volunteer groups to host phonathons and making personal contacts.

Class Correspondent - Responsible for writing the class column and providing updates on classmates' activities in the Cornell Alumni Magazine beginning spring semester and continuing after graduation. While on campus, the broader the network of classmates you establish the easier it will be for you to provide class notes updates after graduation.

Vice Presidents of Events and Publicity - Responsible for creatively organizing and publicizing events that support class activities for volunteers and participants, and encouraging classmates who are not involved to support the class. Work closely with other class officer leaders in order to plan and promote events and activities that support the campaign, build class identity, recognize volunteers, and increase phonathon attendance. Responsible for ensuring that campaign publicity and events set the right tone for the class, bring a large network of volunteers on board, and help the campaign meet its goals. After graduation, you will be involved in planning your 5th year Reunion and other class events.

Webmaster - Responsible for designing and maintaining the Class of 2008 website by posting events, volunteer activities, campaign results, and alumni materials. You will need to collaborate with other class leaders and specifically Class Council members, on the promotion of class events and activities that support the campaign, build class identity, recruit and recognize volunteers, and support phonathon efforts. You are charged with ensuring the website sets the right tone for the class and provides valuable and interesting information.

Secretary- Responsible for recording the efforts of the class officers and facilitating communications throughout the year, including documenting and providing minutes for class officer meetings and sending weekly updates and reminders. In addition, you are responsible for collecting and archiving class materials and supporting the publicity aspects of the class' efforts.

Treasurer- Responsible for maintaining the class budget, recording class expenses, and helping with the strategic planning and funding of class programs. After graduation,your role will be to manage the treasury in support of class-related activities.
