2008 Travel Program. Machu Picchu to the Galapagos.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu to the Galapagos
March 2 - 15, 2008.  Tour Operator: Intrav.

There are few opportunities in the Western Hemisphere - or even the world - that offer such a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions as this journey. Study Spanish colonialism and the ancient Incan civilization in Lima, Cuzco, Quito - and the Equatorial Monument, and legendary Machu Picchu where you travel by mountain-side narrow gauge railway and stay at a hotel right at the mountain-peak ruins. From the rich history of Peru and Ecuador, travel to perhaps the most fascinating archipelago on Earth - the Galapagos Islands. This crossroads of evolution was officially discovered in 1535, but is easily best known as the inspiration for Charles Darwin's, "On the Origin of the Species". Traveling in small groups from your ship base, the 90-passenger Santa Cruz, observe and photograph birds, reptiles, mammals, and plants - some found nowhere else in the world. Blue-footed boobies and red-footed ones too, marine and land iguanas, frigate birds, noddy terns, giant Galapagos tortoises.... what an adventure!

From $6645, per person double occupancy, plus air from/to U.S. Rates include all flights within Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, all sightseeing and excursions, and all gratuities.
