Professor Richard Canfield
I was lucky to have the opportunity to work in Professor Canfield's cognitive development lab as an undergraduate. It was a transformative experience during which Professor Canfield and the team he created awakened me to the possibilities of research and human potential. But even more profoundly, working on Professor Canfield's team made my experience at a major research university very personalized - the lab family he created was an anchor and a springboard for my intellectual and personal development. As a graduate student in higher education, I have learned how very rare that supportive environment can be in major universities, and I have renewed appreciation and gratitude to Professor Canfield for his faith, encouragement, and support.

Professor Liberty Bailey
As a freshman in 1940 or '41 I have remembered with great warmth the impression Liberty Hyde Bailey made on a small group to whom he spoke in the library at the Straight. Having been emeritus 2 or 3 times over, he defined emeritus, in his self deprecating fashion, as "without merit". The old gentleman, only a little older at the time than I am now, stood tall and straight as an arrow as he spoke without notes about life and learning.

Professor Mary Pat Brady
Professor Brady became my mentor after my freshman year. She is a strong Chicana woman who was willing to help me adjust to life away from the Southwest. She is also an advocate for student organizations, especially MEChA. She helped me most my senior year when she became my independent study professor. She offered her home to the graduating Chicano/a students and met our families. She is inspiring and warm to every student she meets. She is truly a role model and mentor. With her help, Cornell became my home away from home.

Professor Henry Richardson
I am so glad to have the honor to have Prof. Richardson as a professor. He encouraged me to dig deeper beyond the surface and explore new avenues of solutions that have not only helped me through my academic career, but also through life. It is through his motivation and guidance that I am actually considering higher eduction as a career.

Professor Cindy Van Es
Professor Van Es was not only a wonderful teacher but took me on as an advisee in my senior year. She was a terrific teacher, advisor and friend! She helped me through the struggle of trying to graduate and find a job while putting a smile on my face! Thank you Cindy!!
