Professor Bruce Snead
Bruce Snead was the instructor for the freshman Design Studio back in '75. I believe he was a graduate student in Arch and underground residential development was his area of expertise. Because of my problems with execution, Bruce encouraged me to focus on the EA aspects of DEA. Had he not helped me focus in this way, I would have struggled through all of the studio classes, and likely would not have been able to particpate in ID 408, the Human Ecology semester in NY program which was the greatest influence in shaping my professional career as a non-profit administrator.

Professor Don Kenkel
While widely recognized as a researcher in the field of Health Economics, Don Kenkel is also a dedicated teacher who makes time for, and devotes considerable energy to, his students. I took many of his classes as a Sloan student, each time delving deeper into the fields of policy analysis and health economics. Prof. Kenkel made these topic come alive and his enthusiasm and passion for the study of health policy and administration peeked my interest in a subject which led me to select my eventual career path. Just wanted to give kudos to a great professor!

Professor Roger Battistella
I can honestly state that Roger is the reason that I entered the health care field. Uncertain as to what career path to pursue, Roger, who had an aquaintance with my parents called and encouraged me to apply to the Sloan Program which was then housed within the Johnson School of Management. Despite the "push" towards the business-siide of health care, Roger was always there to remind me of the broader purposes of hospitals and the importance of their values, stewardhip and commitment to community. While many of the "learned skills" have morphed or been forgotten over the past 25 years, the sense of purpose and impact that Roger encouraged of me remain with me still!

Professor Roger Battistella
Roger's first year at Sloan was our 2nd year. We felt, as "upperclassmen" that we really didn't need those required Policy courses he loved. How surprised we were as we entered the field at the very start-up of Medicare/Medicaid and how quickly we remembered those assigned Policy papers. I am one of those who was successful BECAUSE of Sloan and Roger. I have also been impressed with Roger's evolution to the view that practitioners must become more involved in the educational process of future healthcare management leaders (a view not shared by all academia) and his publications on that subject. My "hat is off" to you, Roger; thank you for all you have done for us and Sloan over the years.

Professor Doug Brown
Doug was our only faculty member who had actually worked in a hospital administrative capacity. For those of us committed to becoming a Hospital Administrator, he was our only "real world" advisor. The hospitality of Doug and his wife, Jane, at their home was an important ingredient in the "glue" that brought our class together socially and professionally (many of us have stayed in touch over the years and are planning our 1st CLASS Reunion on campus this fall). He also gave us an appreciation for the importance of humor and that of perseverance. Doug, we still talk about you--fondly and with gratitude--for what you gave us. Thank you.
