Invest in Cornell faculty for the future

We invite you to celebrate Cornell's exceptional faculty and their life-changing impact as teachers, scholars, mentors, and friends.

Your generous gift honors Cornell faculty who have contributed so much to generations of students and to the world. It will ensure that future Cornellians continue to learn from the world's best faculty.

Faculty Positions

  • Named Senior Professor $3 million

    Provides support for a senior faculty member who is considering retirement or has retired to enable the university to fill the existing faculty position with a new hire.

  • Named Professor $2 million

  • Named Assistant Professor $1 million

    Enables the university to strategically recruit junior faculty members and supports his or her salary and related expenses.

  • Named Faculty Fellowships $500,000

    A Named Faculty Fellowship endowment recognizes an outstanding department chair or faculty member, providing salary enhancement, summer salary support, or other expenditures associated with the position as determined by the dean. The title of Faculty Fellow may be conferred for a period of up to three years and may be held concurrent with other named positions. Donors of a Faculty Fellowship who choose to increase their gift at a later date may augment the fund's principal and allocate the larger endowment to a professorship or other position.

  • Named Term Professorship 2 to 3 years of salary costs

    These positions are funded for two to three years until a permanent position becomes available.

Research and Programs

  • Faculty Research Fund $50,000 and up

  • Provost's Faculty Discretionary Fund $50,000 and up

    Enables the provost to meet faculty-related priorities.

Graduate Support

  • Named Summer Fellowships $50,000 and up

  • Named Travel funds $50,000 and up

    The following awards help Cornell attract the best students who, in turn, attract the best faculty. Because these funds require no repayment, students can focus on their programs of study without distraction.

  • Named Cornell University Post-doctoral Fellowship $1,500,000

  • Named Ezra Cornell Graduate Fellowship $1,000,000

  • Named Andrew Dickson White Graduate Fellowship $750,000

  • Named Professor Barbara McClintock Graduate Fellowship $500,000

  • Named Toni Morrison Graduate Fellowship $250,000

  • Named Professor Hans Bethe Graduate Fellowship $100,000

  • Named Pearl S. Buck Graduate Fellowship $50,000

  • Named Professor Barbara Cooper Summer Stipend for Research and Travel $25,000

Giving Opportunities

Gifts of cash and securities (stock shares, mutual fund shares, bonds) can be applied to support Cornell faculty. You can also consider including Cornell in your financial and estate plans. These methods of giving can have substantial tax benefits. Gifts to Cornell are tax deductible to the full extent of the Internal Revenue Code.
