Eugenie Shen '78
Eugenie Shen is general counsel of AIG Investments—the investment arm of the AIG group—in Asia (except for Japan). She has legal and compliance responsibilities for AIG Investments offices in 19 countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Prior to joining AIG Investments in Hong Kong in 2006, Ms. Shen was general counsel for a number of corporations, including TTE Corporation, the global television joint venture between China's TCL Corporation and France's Thomson group; and Morningside Technologies, Inc., the private equity arm of the Chan family of the Hang Lung Property group in Hong Kong. Between 1993 and 1995, she headed the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's China Listing Unit, which oversaw the listing of mainland Chinese companies in Hong Kong. Before moving to Hong Kong in 1993, Ms. Shen was a vice president and senior associate counsel at Chase Manhattan Bank. She began her legal career as an associate at Shearman & Sterling in New York.
Ms. Shen received her A.B. degree from Cornell University's College of Arts & Sciences in 1978, with majors in government and Asian studies. She received a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981 and was admitted to the New York bar in 1982.
Ms. Shen co-founded the Cornell Asian Alumni Association in 1990 and served as its first president before moving abroad. She was a member of the Cornell University Council and the President's Council of Cornell Women for a number of years
