Phil Young joined U.S. Venture Partners (USVP) in 1990 after four years with Concord Partners and eight years as President and CEO of Oximetrix, Inc., a privately-held Silicon Valley manufacturer of high technology medical instruments and sterile disposable products. During his eight year tenure as CEO of Oximetrix, this venture capital-backed 're-start' grew from less than $1 million to nearly $50 million in annual sales on a single$3.5 million venture financing. Under Mr. Young's leadership, Oximetrix also established important strategic relationships with Abbott Laboratories, Corning Medical, and Baxter Travenol, and was acquired by Abbott in 1985 when it became Abbott Critical Care. He has represented USVP on several boards, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Compugen, Ltd., Vical, Gator.com, Caspian Networks, The Immune Response Corporation, Zoran Corporation, and various other privately-held companies.
A newly-elected member of the Cornell University Board of Trustees, Mr. Young serves on the Board of Directors of eCornell, and has been a member of the University's Private Equity Advisory Committee. He was a guest speaker at the 2001 Annual Cornell Society of Engineers Conference.
