New Officer Leadership Training (NEW! 8-6-2007)
New class officers are encouraged to attend CACO's fourth New Officer Leadership Training program to be offered in Ithaca on Saturday, September 29, 2007. You likely have questions about how things work, whom you should call, how to measure success and the time commitment. This program was developed in response to requests of previous new volunteer officers who felt early training would help them be even more successful in leading their organizations. Doorway to the University
What are the issues and projects that are most important to and will have the greatest impact on Cornell? The Board of Trustees and the President, with the support of the Provost and the Vice-President for Alumni Affairs and Development, help to define university priorities every year. We can help you by providing the key information and published materials you need to decide what areas you’d like to support.
Consultation on Fundraising Ideas and Approaches
Considering swallowing a goldfish for every pledge your classmates make in order to provide incentive and inspiration? Before you take such drastic measures, call us for ideas. With many combined years of experience, we can share tools for motivation and organization, many of which come from our most effective Cornell Annual Fund volunteers. We also have plenty of tips to share gleaned from fellow professional fund raising organizations and peer institutions.
Training
What makes a good call? How can I motivate and inspire my committee to be more effective? Any good direct mail strategies – or better yet, sample letters? Any ideas on overcoming objections and obstacles towards recruiting or soliciting? Through group workshops at CACO, one-on-one meetings, and conference calls we offer answers and suggestions for these questions based on our and our volunteers’ experience.
Research and Analysis
It’s true. We do keep good records. When you are involved in fund raising, reviewing trends can be insightful. We can provide you with giving histories from your class, your local area and even from previous phonathons. We can provide you with up-to-date data on your current fundraising goals. Reports are crucial when you are trying to keep track of milestones and we are happy to provide them.
Opportunities for Involvement
All of the above would not count for much were it not for our partnership with you, our volunteers. As an elected Cornell Annual Fund Representative, or as a Tower Club, Ivy Society, phonathon or Reunion Campaign volunteer, you allow us to expand the network of friends beyond what we can do alone. You can open more doors for us than we can, advise us when things are going well or awry, and give a voice to the passion for Cornell that is often more articulate and personal than ours.
Contact Cornell Annual Fund
We can be reached at 1-800-279-3099 and at cornell_fund@cornell.edu. Each and every class has a Cornell Fund officer. If you’d like to contact your liaison directly, refer to your Staff and CACO Contact sheet for their direct phone and specific e-mail addresses. We look forward to hearing from you!
