Who and What is CACO?

  • More than 70 classes and 1,600 alumni class officers making a positive impact on Cornell.
  • Experienced and enthusiastic board leaders who provide expertise in mentoring and program ideas.
  • Works to build a future of effective alumni programs and leadership to foster the strongest Cornell class spirit possible.

Our Mission

CACO plays a unique and collaborative role in helping Class Leadership achieve Cornell's goal of creating and maintaining strong relationships with its alumni throughout their lives.

CACO, the Cornell Association of Class Officers, was founded in 1905 to assist class leaders in organizing their activities and managing their alumni classes; all Cornell class officers are automatically members.  CACO itself falls under the comprehensive organization of the Cornell Alumni Federation, the umbrella organization for all Cornell alumni activities.

CACO sponsors a variety of programs made possible, in part, by dues paid by alumni classes to the organization. Mid-Winter Meeting, one of the largest alumni training programs for Cornell volunteers, and CACO's most visible initiative, conducts workshops to help train new and continuing officers. Additional support is provided throughout the year through monthly membership mailings, assistance with news and dues letters, board mentoring of class presidents, tip sheets, assistance with role descriptions, officer manuals, and work with nominating committees.

Board members also work with young alumni and undergraduate leaders, mentor class presidents, develop training programs and guidelines, and work closely with the Cornell Fund. Board members continue to look for better ways to serve class officers.
